Boris Eldagsen has been exhibiting internationally as a photo, video and installation artist in galleries, festivals and museums. He has been using his background in visual arts and philosophy to lecture art, photography and theory at universities and art schools.
He is a pioneer of AI-images, generated with diffusion models.
His refusal of the Sony World Photo Awards in April 2023 kicked-off a global debate about the relationship between photography and
AI-generated images. He was coined "the poster-boy of the AI-debate" (SZ), and his image “PSEUDOMNESIA | The Electrician” became “the picture that stopped the world” (The Guardian) andan iconic symbol for a new aera.
The Berlin-based artist sees AI as a knowledge amplifier and uses his artistic and photographic experience to create images that he could not produce with his previous means. Even though the tools have changed, the basic direction of his work has remained the same, using a singular approach.
